Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RPP)

The Genesys Diagnostics Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RPP) simultaneously detects and identifies multiple respiratory pathogens in nasopharyngeal swabs from individuals with suspected respiratory tract infections.

We can detect 22 respiratory viral targets and 3 bacterial targets concurrently in each sample.

Co-infections occur approximately 20-30% of the time. Our panel can detect and report more than 1 virus or bacteria.

Viral Targets
  • Adenovirus

  • Coronavirus 229E, HKU1, NL63, OC43

  • Human metapneumovirus

  • Human rhinovirus/enterovirus

  • Influenza A: A/H1, A/H3, A/H1-2009

  • Influenza B

  • Parainfluenza virus 1,2,3,4

  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)

Bacterial Targets
  • Chlamydia pneumoniae

  • Mycoplasma pneumoniae

Who is this test for?

Any provider who deals with respiratory issues, can use this panel to help diagnose and decide proper treatment for patients with respiratory problems or symptoms.

Infants, children, young adults and elderly adults are some of the most commonly affected demographics.

On average 24,000 deaths each year are attributed to influenza in the United States. In children, RSV is the most common cause of severe lower respiratory tract infection worldwide. Timely detection of these viruses leads to proper treatment.
